MORE ABOUT JANNTAE ALSTON

I have been honored to serve in the mental health field for several years and have been practicing as a Resident in Counseling since 2024. Throughout my professional journey, I have gained diverse clinical experience across community-based and behavioral health settings. My background includes serving as a Vocational Counselor, Crisis Intervention Supervisor, Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) services, where I provided intensive, community-based support to individuals with severe and persistent mental health needs, and as a public school mental health clinician.

In addition to my clinical training, I hold a Doctorate in International Psychology, which has strengthened my ability to provide culturally responsive and globally informed care. My international experience includes providing services and engaging in professional work in South Africa and Germany, allowing me to develop a deeper understanding of cross-cultural mental health systems, diverse family dynamics, and the social determinants that impact psychological well-being. This global perspective enhances my ability to support individuals from varied cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds with sensitivity and competence.

Working across these roles has strengthened my ability to assess complex situations, respond effectively in crisis, and support individuals in building stability through skill development, resource coordination, and therapeutic intervention. I have extensive experience assisting individuals facing depression, anxiety, trauma-related concerns, mood instability, life transitions, housing and employment barriers, and co-occurring challenges. My work in vocational services has allowed me to help individuals build confidence, increase independence, and move toward meaningful employment and long-term sustainability.

I am passionate about helping individuals reach their fullest potential. My therapeutic approach integrates evidence-based, behavior-focused modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and solution-focused interventions. I prioritize meeting individuals where they are — creating a supportive, structured, and goal-oriented environment that fosters accountability, growth, and emotional wellness.

Outside of my professional work, I value spending quality time with my family, engaging in community initiatives, supporting local businesses, and continuing to expand my knowledge through reading and professional development.
